FLINT, MICHIGAN – On August 22, 2017, Tyesha Kemp, happily changed her profile status to “in a relationship” with Brandon Merrow. Tyesha thought she’d met her dream man. However just 10 months later, Brandon would be accused of her murder.
Around 4:15 a.m. Saturday, June 2, the Davison Township Police Department received a call about a body lying on the side of the road at.
When officers arrived at 9070 Davison Road they found 26-year-old Tyesha Kemp on the ground barely alive. Paramedics attempted to revive Tyesha to no avail. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
Homicide detectives quickly determined Kemp had been struck by a car and quickly zeroed in on Meadow as a suspect in her death.
Merrow, 28, is accused of intentionally running over Kemp.
“She flipped up in the air, hit the windshield, rolled around and then hit the back window breaking that before she went to the ground,” Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said in a statement.
“There’s a lot of physical evidence of her contacting his car right where there’s damage to his car and on the areas where there’s damage we found her clothes, bits of her hair and she has a bad shoulder laceration that matches up directly with a piece of the car.”
Brandon Merrow was arraigned on the charges of first-degree murder, witness intimidation, failure to stop at the scene of an accident and tampering with evidence, according to MLive.
Authorities say Merrow returned to the scene with Kemp’s mother later that morning in an effort to cover his tracks — an action the prosecutor said usually happens in cases of arson.
Just a week prior, Brandon said he couldn’t believe his luck at getting such a beautiful girlfriend.
The victim’s family is still struggling to make sense of it all.
” … We are trying to be strong for each other, get her laid to rest and then deal with our emotions,” Ereka Bunn, Kemp’s adopted sister, told WNEM. ” She would tell me that I’m OK, that I can get through this.”
“She was so loving and caring,” Bunn recalled of her sister, who was also the mother of a 2-year-old boy. “She always wanted to make sure everyone was OK. We were never prepared for this … So for something like this to happen to her is such a shock.”
“She was always a great person, beautiful inside and out”, her friend Christy Hetzer said.
According to WNEM, investigators think that Leyton and Kemp got into an argument. They believe that Kemp tried to leave and this allegedly enraged Merrow. Officers believe that Merrow was angry and purposely ran over Kemp.
Undoubtedly Merrow is sitting in jail regretting his decision. When in relationships, things can get a bit scary in bad times. Violence in a relationship is not only unnecessary, but it doesn’t solve anything. The root of the problem is each individual’s thoughts. If an argument occurs each individual should calm down and avoid raising their voices. It’s also best to speak one at a time and not forget that you love each other. If you can’t talk without interrupting one another, your adrenaline may rise and take over you. Resulting in you committing a crime and someone you love, losing their life. Something you can’t take back. Not to mention, do you really want to spend years in prison? You should value your own life, more than that.
If you can’t speak to your partner with love, avoid speaking until you can. Hurt people, hurt people. Don’t make it worse by not controlling your rage. Replace negative thoughts of your loved one with positive thoughts. Always seek to end a relationship peacefully. After all, life goes on. Unless …
