Youngstown, Ohio – On Thursday, a man who impregnated 14-year-old twins and their 12-year-old sister while living in their home was sentenced to 27 years in prison.
Arnold Perry, 34, was sentenced after pleading guilty to two counts of rape and one count of sexual battery.
Investigators say he impregnated 14-year-old twins and their 12-year-old little sister. The girls’ mother allowed him to stay in their home because he had nowhere else to go.
One twin had an abortion; the others had babies because their pregnancies were discovered too late.
Prosecutor Jennifer McLaughlin said in court.
‘These girls will suffer the rest of their lives because of this,’ McLaughlin told the court.
She added that Perry who was a friend of the family, had abused the family’s trust.
The abuse occurred over a 2-year time period from 2014-2016.
While the punishment may seem a bit light, the 27-year sentence, handed down by Judge Maureen Sweeney, is two years more than the recommended 25-year sentence, The Vindicator reports.
Although Perry’s defense attorney Mark Lavelle said in court that Perry’s was the most heinous case he’d ever handled, he still bizarrely argued his client should be sentenced to between 15 and 16 years in prison, due to a child hood brain injury that stops him (Perry) from feeling remorse.
Perry apologized before sentencing. ‘I know now what I did was wrong,’ he said. ‘I wish I could take it back.’
The girls’ mother said she is raising two babies, and that Perry’s family isn’t helping her.
Prosecutors said Perry had been convicted of similar crimes as a juvenile but he continued the same pattern of behavior as an adult.
Upon his release from prison, Perry will need to register as a Tier 3 sex offender. Tier 3 sex offenders are considered high risk individuals and are considered as such for the remainder of their lives
LESSON: A woman with kids should be extremely careful about who she allows around her children. Unfortunately, this type of story is heard all too often.
