Family prepares to bury man, woman, child found murdered
3 bodies, burned Christmas tree discovered inside home, police say
Less than a week before Christmas, an X-mas wreath decorates the front door of a neat little home in the Woodland Acres community in Arlington, and a bicycle lies on the front lawn.
But the home in the 8900 block of India Avenue won’t be the place of festive Christmas celebrations. As it became the location of a triple homicide crime scene on Tuesday night.
Investigators walked into the home to discover three bodies inside, one of them a baby girl, less than a year old.
Jacksonville Reports: The Sheriff’s Office did not identify the victims or causes of death pending autopsies.
But family members identified them as 11-month-old Aeriel Trotter, her 19-year-old mother, Ariyan Larondak Johnson, and 20-year-old father, Quasean Latrelle Trotter. Both went to Terry Parker High School, where Trotter played football for the Braves football team.
Police said foul play is suspected after the 10:30 p.m. discovery by firefighters who made their way into the home while responding to a house fire alert. They found a burned Christmas tree, then the bodies of the three victims as well as evidence covered in smoke and soot, the Sheriff’s Office said.
There didn’t appear to be any forced entry into the home, the Sheriff’s Office said. No other information has been released as the investigation continues.
Images of the three were posted on a number of family and friends’ Facebook sites. One friend showed multiple images of the mother and daughter with the message that “nothing but God can carry me through this one.”
A couple of days before the discovery Ariyan Johnson posted a video showing her and Trotter smiling with the header above that reads, “People let me tell you about my best friend.” In several photos of Aeriel she refers to her as “my lovely.”
Arielle Trotter, 11 months, died of smoke inhalation.
They say her parents, Ariyan Johnson and Quasean Trotter, were shot and killed inside the home.
A neighbor told Action Jax News he heard gunshots on Tuesday night.
“It was about 6:30-7 o’clock, and I heard four rounds, four gunshots,” the man said. “[They were] really loud.”
A GoFundMe has been started for funeral expenses. So far less than $1200 has been donated.
