Xscape’s future once again unclear after one group member decides to exit the train.
Kandi Burruss is not messing with her old Xscape crew anymore. She did her lil charity work for the group and ultimately decided to move on.
However, the other three members are moving forward, recording new music – without Kandi. To help aide in their quest of resurrecting their once prominent music careers, the trio has now hired Vincent Herbert, as their manager.
Tamar’s estranged husband continues to pick up new clients despite abuse allegations, launched against him by Tamar’s mom. Just last month, Herbert picked up Remy Ma, as a new client.
Artists pick Vince because of his sway and prominence in the music industry. If you recall, Vincent is also the man responsible for launching Lady Gaga’s career. Indeed that speaks of his genius in managing the music careers of his clients.
As to Kandi, it was quite evident from the very beginning that Kandi felt like one of the group members felt like she was about to launch a solo career back in the day, and didn’t need the rest of the group.
But those tables turned and Kandi proved to be legendary in writing and Tiny maintained popularity through her marriage with a popular rapper.
While Tiny now feels like she has something to prove, and wants to let the new kids know she’s somebody outside of her hubby T.I; Kandi doesn’t feel a need to prove anything.
Kandi is still successful due to her writing credits and her role on ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta‘. At this point it’s more of a “Hah, hah, that’s what you get,” and Kandi didn’t receive the necessary words from the group, to help her get over it. So she pulled a trump card.
The group needs Kandi but Kandi doesn’t need them.
In an interview with People Magazine, Kandi Burruss defended her decision.
She told the mag:
“It wasn’t a planned reunion.”
“What happened was a network was going to do an unauthorized movie about us, and of course I’m not going to let somebody just take my legacy. So I called my group members and we were all able to have a conversation to start trying to get our story told the right way.”
“I was like, I need a public apology. She’s going to have to say to the world that the stuff that she said about me was a lie. And so in doing that — we did it on the radio — and the radio disc jockey, he’s like, ‘Oh, Xscape is back!’ I was like, ‘
Xscape is not back!’ All of a sudden we started getting all these offers to perform and do shows, so I just went with the flow for the moment.”
“It’s always drama. We all think differently when it comes to handling business, or at least, the three of them think differently than me. It’s always them three against me, and I feel like I’m always made to be the villain.
It’s really irritating and stressful.”
Woop there you have it. No more tours and recording new Xscape music for Kandi.
In my opinion, they should have bowed down to Kandi and got their money. Especially Tocha. But Tocha came back trying to act as if Kandi wasn’t the one currently on top… People have a vey hard time accepting when those roles change.
However, an Instagram user sees things quite differently. “I am so tired of Kandi thinking somebody has to kiss her ass all the time. Girl, sit down. If she was JD and that’s why the group broke up then swallow that pill and pay it,” the user wrote.
More than a feel social media users say Kandi lost her voice anyway…
I believe there’s a high chance the group revival won’t prosper without Kandi, however we can’t count Tiny out, as she has a powerful voice, a great deal of stardom, and just may pull if off. We’re rooting for her and most certainly hope Kandi changes her mind.
We shall see.
SideNote: At some point Tamika Scott did apologize to Kandi, but apparently that was not enough.
